Take your time and keep looking.

Look, it took me the better part of 20 years to find my Grand Prix because I was very specific and very picky... but I got it.

Interestingly enough, there is an El Cam Roller here.. Body was painted awhile back, looked solid, with an 8.5 rear... $1500 I damn near bought it for the rear alone.

Look Nationally, Fly, rent a U-Haul, drive home... you could very well save money doing that.

Thanks, I picked up a pretty nice 83 the other day. I'm not that picky I just wanted a very solid base. The car I got is certainly no show car but it's definitely a 10 footer with no rot or rust to speak of.

Where is local to you? I'm on the hunt for an 8.5 rear for mine now that I got it. There's one for sale about an hour away for $1300 which isn't a "bad" price but I'd like to get it cheaper if possible.

Stock drivetrain be swapped probably for an LQ4 6.0, 4L80e and 8.5 inch ten bolt, unless I can find a bolt in 9 inch, 12 bolt, or Dana 60 for a good deal.

If my 86 GP didnt only have 65k on the 305, and didn't run like a top already, I would be:

400 Pontiac 6.6L punched 20 over, flat top pistons, mild cam, full roller.. Build the 200-R4 in it to hold 450hp450tq.. 3.73 Tru-Trac in the 7.5 Rear and call it a Daily Driver :)

It's always pleasant when the unwashed public sees running, driving, complete cars for sale and bases their asking price for an incomplete , hacked, disassembled roller on those comp values. 😆

Now go have a few friends offer him lesser offers around $1200 for a few weeks until he caves to $2700.

I live in CA and I'll sell you my '85 Caballero for $3,500 and you can have ALL the extra parts I have to go with it. I have a 5.7L out of a 1992 Silverado and a 700R4 that came out of a Z car that was behind a 350 that you can rebuild/check out both before you install. Sitting in my driveway right now on Non-OP because it has a fuel leak(bad hose/pump). The rims and tires in the pic with the camper shell are what's on the car right now.

Yeah I would have bought that if it was closer, but I don't think you could be any further and still be in the lower 48, haha.

Although I prefer the color on the one I got, that car looks super clean.

As to the other thing about the guy selling it for $1200... He'd be a real idiot. If he goes that low I will definitely buy it for parts. I'd yank the rear out, and swap it and the wheels onto mine. Turn around and resell it with stock wheels and rear for what I paid.

Definitely take your time doing your due diligence. Take the vin and plate to your DMV and have them run it to make sure it’s not stolen and/or has a bunch of late fees. Good luck 👍🏽🤓👍🏽
