which rear did you use?
I'm running a 8.5" out of a 442. Currently it has stock 28 spline axles, a Richmond Powertrax locker and 3:73's but I'm gathering parts for an upgrade! It will get 30 spline Moser axles (already have), a truetrac diff, new bearings and same 3:73's if not damaged when I inspect it. I won't be afraid to throw 600hp at it!

roughly how much HP would an 8.5 hold? IF only they were cheaper... floating the idea of upgrading to an 8.5 or going the extra mile to 9''

bump.. dont really want to spend that much on a rear but... argh. Maybe ill let the 7.5 eat for this season LOL will only see street driving

You know what you have back there - don't abuse it and it won't break. IF YOU DO upgrade don't go half way, I couldn't and didn't spent the money for an 8.5 that's 30 something years old. You can order a 9 or 12 the way you want it, the ends to accept what ever brakes you want, and the splines you want all new for around $700.00. Nine inch pigs are cheap for stock stuff and can go through the roof depending on what you want. Your going to want whatever that eng-trans throws at it to hold it.
