** Need Transmission Advice **

200C driveshaft will fit with the 200-4R. All 200-4R have a "universal" bolt pattern that fits both Chevy and Buick-Oldsmobile-Pontiac engines.

In my case I will use also a B&M manual torque converter lockup, but you can run the transmission with the lockup unplugged also.

Not sure but a lot of 700's I have seen need an external computer.

Awesome thanks guys. Will I need to do do anything with the computer since I am upgrading the trans with an over drive version? I've been told I may need a proper computer or reprogram to handle it

Sorry I should've mentioned I'm leaning towards the 200r4. I'm not sure if the 200r4's have computers or not but would love to hear from anyone that knows about this stuff. My ability to work on cars comes from repair manuals, this forum, and friends so I'm unsure about a lot of the specifics for this swap.

700r-4 vs 200-4r. I would recommend 200 if you have olds engine just bc it bolts right up and was originally equipped in g-bodies. I chose 700 bc I put a chevy engine in and bc parts are more available to upgrade 700 since the continued production and upgraded through the years to 4l60 & 4l80 & 4l85. It is a little more challenging to get 700 into our cars IMO. From everything ive learned transmissions are very similar. 200 is shorter, has stronger input & output shafts but 700 has better oiling. 700 has better 1st gear but more of a drop between 1st & 2nd. Also gearing ratios are a little different. 700: 1st - 3.06, 2nd - 1.63, 3rd - 1, 4th - 0.70. 200: 1st - 2.74, 2nd - 1.57, 3rd - 1, 4th - 0.67. Other than that they are virtually the same, only other thing I prefer about 700 is that the governor is more accessible for tuning. 200 you need to drop the pan.

Im not really sure either i know that some 700r4 have electronic lockup. 200r might have a few like that too. But if it comes down to it you can wire it to a toggle switch. Some people will probly say no thats wrong youl burn it up. No you wont so dont worry. Personally im a turbo 350 guy. Still to this day its the only transmission ive had that went 250,000 miles on no fluid change and reverse finally quit on it lol. But i cant judge the 200 i only had one in a car i sold but i hear good things about them. And for the 700 im kinda meh dont care for em that much but they live on in the form of the 4l60e so they must be worth a damn. The only transmission i never owned to date is the turbo 400 but all my buddys had em and couldnt break em and the overdrive is nice

The TH2004R has computer controlled lockup and the TH200 driveshaft will also fit the TH2004R. However the TH2004R uses a different crossmember than the TH200.

You can use this basic kit from B&M to control lockup on a TH200-4R.

Your original post says Regal - do you have the Olds 307 under the hood? 700R4 with a BOP bellhousing may be harder to find....not sure. Cadillac, maybe? 2004R is a better choice if your rear gear ratio is 3.23 or numerically higher, and has the right bellhousing pattern. Reuse your flexplate.
