Hello,

I am looking at adding a good mello exhaust to my Monte this summer. Currently my exhaust is pretty much factory stock, with the exception of the tali pip which rotted off the car years ago. I am thinking Headers, What brands/styles should i look at. in addition what pipe size and mufflers should the best. I am thinking around 3' pipe with some flow masters or similar. Also my idea is to turn them out just before the rear wheels with square tips. The car is a 305, which will stay in it until i am ready to go the LS swap route.

What do you think?? let me know some good sounding, with not alot of done ideas.

Thanks ahead of time

Are you more concerned about sound or performance? Flowmasters have a very distinct sound. It’s kind of love/hate. Magnaflows are pretty popular, but can be kind of pricey. Dynomax might be a good budget choice.

With the current 305 and 2 barrel rochester, performance is not an issue, as in, only an LS will help it out. i am more concerned with sound for now. I am looking to approve the cruise ability for now. I have dynomax on my suburban, and i do think they sound great,

Magnaflow, Borla, or Pypes mufflers, you can make the rest out of straight pipe and angle pieces of you want it in front of the rear wheels.
3" pipe and Flowmasters do not equate to "nice" or "mellow". 2.5" pipe will be plenty.

I agree 2.5" pipe would be plenty. Probably would sound good with a couple of turbo mufflers.

shorty headers, or long ones? Is 2.5" with a good turbo muffler??? i have also seen glasspacks right after the headers then pipe, into turbo mufflers, and turned out, has any one done anything like that. I don't have emissions so i don't need CATS.

Whats that, emissions??? Sorry slightly different state in the BIG 12. How ever my mom's name is Dorothy, so have at it😆😆🤣🤣
