Hello everyone,
Happy to be a new member and collect lot's of info from everyone. Proud new owner of 1978 Monte Carlo 305 w factory 4 speed and -tops . Too rare of a car to pass up , originally from Tennessee she has some rust thanks to her time up in Illinois ,nothing horrible though. The car runs and drives , burns out like a 350 and chirps 2nd!! I've looked for production numbers on the 78s and have only found that there some 1900 four speed cars built but most were six cylinders. Couple people said this is a 1 of 70sh cars built, not including the ttop option? Sorry I know this more of a intro forum just wanted to give a little history ......thx

Thanks for the warm welcome I accidentally started a couple new threads so the other one had the pics viewtopic.php?f=24&t=45700#.UbJTHBrCuss. if it doesn't work ,just scroll down in new users and you should find it. Yeah its pretty rare not a lot of info on the 3 rd gen production #s. I guess 1700 4 speeds made in 78 but most were v6s. Plus ttops, ac, power, buckets, I wish I had the build sheet .

The build sheet should be in the car, Under seat, carpet, inside door panels.

If you are thinking of replacing the gas tank anytime soon....there should be a build sheet up there as well.

Really?...... I thought it was under the back seat or gone forever. Under the carpet its prob toast because it needs floor pans. Door panels are a possibility. On top of the gas tank is pretty crazy you think it would be washed out by the elements but maybe not. Thanks for giving me hope lol

On my 78 i found two build sheets. One was on top of the gas tank and the other was in the rear portion of the back seat facing the trunk
