don't forget if your cutlass had a 307 in it to change the front springs. The 307 weighs a lot more than the sbc. if you dont change them the car will look like it is doing a wheel stand

Where did you get that information???

The published data on an SBC is about 575 lbs. A 455 Olds big block only weighs about 620 lbs. The 307 is a short deck small block and has the lightweight block casting with windowed main webs. The published data I have shows it being LESS than the traditional SBC. Now, if you're talking an aluminum LS series motor, that's a different story.
