Thanks for posting the additional photos Dan. It looks like maybe the car has had some changes made to it. I can see the 1980 taillights at the rear, but the front grill looks like its from a 1978. After looking at the photos of the underside of the car, I doubt that its a former police vehicle. I can't see any of the extra frame reinforcements that would have been on a police vehicle. I'm looking at the air cleaner assembly, and it looks like it might be a 267 V8. Does it have a 2 barrel or 4 barrel carburetor? If its a 2 barrel, its likely a 267, and if its a 4 barrel, likely a 305. Is there any way to research the history of the car? might help with your efforts to get it fixed up.

yes its a 267ci its feel like it has good compression, trans is a th350, the current trans is on its last leg, just good enough to move up and down the drive and around the block for tuning purposes , i have a used th350 im going to shoot the dice with. hopefully in the next weeek or so i should have the used trans in, get plates and enjoy the ride.

I asked the guy i bought it from if he new the history and he had no idea.
