Make sure you get some who knows the CCC Qjet to rebuild it. Do not get a reman, it is also a special casting number for the 442.
I heard a guy mention that on youtube, said its because its the HO 307. Where do I look to check it and what numbers should be on it?

I'm pretty sure from what I've read about identifying marks. It got the two ears on the bottom. Here's a pic, tell me what you think.
Yup definitely the 8.5. You could sell that if you wanted a QP 9" but that 8.5 will hold up.

Look here.

17086009. Same as the 307 H.O. buildout to 1990. I might be mis-remembering some of the other applications, but 86-87 442 I know for sure shared the same carburetor.

Look at the rear of the carb above the secondary linkage on driver side. Should see some numbers looking something like this.

Welcome to GBodyForum.
There is a lot of work ahead of you to bring that car back to life. All it takes is time and money. HaHa. When projects are large like yours, check lists help to bring it to a manageable level. One of the best tools you have at your disposal is the family you have joined. There are a lot of guys here who are doing full blown projects who have knowledge and experience to share. You will be one of those guys as you make your way through your project. The best of luck to you.

Thats what I was thinking given what I read about the 8.5. Think it could hold up to an LSA/4l80e combo? It would be nice not to have to drop $4k on that so I could focus on other parts initially.

Just make sure you get your carb done by someone who knows what they're doing. DO NOT TRADE IN your 442 carb (if you have a 6009 carb) for any big box store reman junk.

A 442 carb is 800 cfm and is jetted differently in the primaries than the Y carb among other things. Throttle body is slightly different too, although not sure what that difference is. Part number is different.

I would suggest a reasonably-priced, but good rebuild if you're going to want to keep driving it for a while. Everyday Performance https://www.everyday-performance.com/index.htm can hook you up for about the price of a decent reman anyway. Ship him your old carb with a check for what he quotes you, and he'll send you back a fully functional Q-jet specifically set up for your car.
