Hi there - new here.
Brief history - licensed motorcycle mechanic and motive power machinist,
Recently got out of the motorcycle trade and went back to farm equipment mechanic, sold a couple of my bikes and bought a 1980 Cutlass with stock 307 as a “family hot rod”

I would like to do a Hurst 442 clone with it over the next few years picking away over the winter. Which will include a proper engine and transmission to suit the 442 (I believe they were a 350 olds not the 307)

Many thanks for having me

Ontari-nope?! Eww... get out of here with that noise (we just left it a few months ago).

Congrats on the project. I believe 307 was the correct engine for all Olds A/G bodies. Could be wrong. Not sure if you've seen this, but this guy seems to have options for a 350.

Me, I'd do a 455. 😉

the 79 Hurst Old's and the 1980 442 had the 350 engine

Thanks, I learned something today!

Mostly that I should have bought one when I had the chance. Regrets are real.

I wonder if that is Dale Robinson on Kiijjii? Canadian A/G bodies, 81 and up other than the H/O, 442 and 88 CSC were all 3.8 Buick or sbc 267 and 305 powered. The Olds 350 is a durable, underrated motor. No way I put a used 455 in anything without a very good inspection, considering the last one was made in 76, people tend to over rev them and cook the bottom end.

Hope you got into the states and didn’t get your bank account frozen 🙄🙄

I don’t need huge HP - I just would like to build a period correct clone type 442 - so the 350 will be used eventually

Nah, our money is fine and Montana is just 6 hours away now. Honk!

I hope you find a good unit to start with.
