My name is Jerry and I bought a 1981 4 door Malibu one year ago for 250 dollars it had a sbc 305 motor and 400 trans but the motor went out so I’m thinking about putting a 6.0 trailblazer ss motor in plus swapping out the whole interior from a 2016 Malibu meaning dash seats and panoramic roof. I want to give peoples a different look on 4 door Malibu since they are the most slept on car

Welcome to the site from Houston. Cool project! To get the back seat back out, you need to pull those Torx (star) bolts out that hold it and the seatbelts in. Those bolts have a tendency to be hard to remove as they often have rust and undercoat on them on the bottom side of the car where they stick through. It pays to clean them up from underneath and spray them with penetrating oil. Then you'll need the correct size Torx bit...

Take your time. You don't want to strip the star head of the bolt. It would make it much harder to get it out.

Thank you and I needed that information. I’m on my way to get the set now

I used a cheater (piece of pipe) on my ratchet when I broke mine loose. They were pretty snug.
