Hi all, figured I would post in here before asking all kinds of questions.

About a year and a half ago I acquired a 1981 Malibu to restore. It's a bit of an interesting one.
It's one of the Iraqi Taxis (we call it The Camel) plus some family history (My dad was the 2nd owner of it and it was the first car I ever drove as a kid).
When he had the car, he swapped in a 305 and a turbo 350 ( was a 3 speed manual). It got parked in a field about 16 years ago and sat until we pulled it out to restore.
We had gotten the 305 running but the lifters were shot and had a 350 in good condition sitting around so last spring we swapped that in.
Have cleaned some other things up a bit and now looking to start restoring and upgrading over the coming years.
Long term I want to do an LS swap but that will probably be very last or just before a full paint job.

Looking forward to contributing and seeking advice from the people here

Here's a photo. I also did wheels and tires last year. The ones that were on were shot and wing sized and if I'm going bigger brakes I needed bigger wheels so may as well do that now!

Nice car welcome. Surprised no one else chimed in to welcome you, but I see you've been busy with your other posts.

My girlfriend had an 81 two tone brown, bought from family 1997 to 2000, then she sold it. Not a hot rod for sure but overall dependable.

May I was sick with the Novo virus, but noticed the May date tonight and no one chimed in with a cursory welcome.
