Hello all. New to this forum. I am in several G-body, Olds and specifically
Hurst Olds forums.
I first saw the 1983
Hurst Olds in 1983 in my small hometown in Illinois. It immediately became my all time favorite/most beautiful car I've known. I wanted one immediately.
Well, when I turned 50, I still had never had one. I found a guy who was selling his "barn find" for about $3,000 in northern IN (I live in central, eastern, IL). So, I got my cashier's check for $3,000 and drove there. I figured it would have to be pretty bad to not be worth it. It was not ACTUALLY a barn find, as it was in the grass beside his barn, so it was a YARD DISCOVERY. I guess he mowed?
Anyway, I bought it. It was not terrible, but not very good either. I have had it since 2019 (when I turned 50). I've had it at a few mechanics, getting things done. It is getting closer, but still needs some things. I think a radiator is the last thing. It was all original, but I am not going to sell it so I do not care about that much being original.
I will attach a few pictures (most of the frozen up motor). Then I will tell more stories about a local mechanic nightmare...
