Hi guys! I am obviously new if I am posting here! I am a mother of 2. Live in Colorado and am a bracket racer. I am here to research my option of building 80's regal and maybe finding one...

Cutlass or Monte would be ok.. But I would prefer a Regal. All I want is a consistant, streetable 13 second car (at my elevation) One I can drive to and from the track and then park it in the garage. My instinct is to swap a sbc or bbc into one... But i know that takes work.. so I am here to research what years would be best, easiest and what engines would work well for this project.

Any Help would be awesome.. I am also going to search and read up..

😀

welcome! and what a cool mom haha. that would be so cool if my mom raced.

K now your making me feel old!! haha Just Kidding...

I am actually 31.. I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old.

Right now I am racing my daily driver, which is slow... But it is a good car and i modded it up pretty well. Got me 11 trophies, 2007 3rd place in sport compact class for 2007 out of 100 + cars, 8th in my trophy class out of 100+ cars and 25th in my hot rod class out of 400+ cars... a track record.. several perfect lights... and this is only my first full registered season. i need to move up and on to a car that is worht racing.. 😉

My 6 year old will be in a jr dragster in 1.5 years too.. 😀

welcome! hey i wish my mon raced and i'm the same age as you. we're not old, just older. what are you racing now. you're definately doing well in it! how much does the altitude slow you down?

i'm biased but i say monte. easier to get a SBC in there. slightly better availability on parts, and hell they just look better.

welcome to the site! seems like you have alot of experience under your belt with racing congrats!

What I am racing now is a daily drive and is in no way a "race car" or anything...

I got a 96 Chevy corsica for free about 2.5 years ago with a blown head gasket on the stock 3100sfi. I fixed that and took it to the track for poops and giggle and it was running an average of 18.3 to 18.5 here at my high elevation and was not consstent at all . I threw in about 12 to 1500 bucks and got it to run a consistent 16.6 for 2007. I swaped in a 3400 sfi out of an 01 alero, full 2.5 inch magnaflow exhaust, a true cold air intake, a ffp underdrive puly, car customs polly mounts and alot of body work and mods to the interior and exterior. I threw in some gtz seats, threw on some gtz bumpers, z34 hood vents, gt spoiler, ltz solid grill and 17 inch kyowa rims. Not bad for only putting in 1500 bucks... I know Corsicas are not popular.. but I turn everything I own into a porject.. I like to tinker alot...

Welcome!! I love to hear that any woman is in to cars. That is awesome! I'm kind of partial to Monte Carlos also so I would say to get a Monte but the are all equally easy to work on and parts aren't to hard to find yet.

Welcome to the site, I believe we know each other from Motortopia 😉
