It's great that there is such an interest in G-Bodies now. I'm sick of picking up HOTROD magazines and seeing nothing but 69' Camaro's. I honestly believe that the G-Bodies are the next hot ticket. I have been involved in these cars since I was born. I received my 1980 Malibu Classic from my parents when I turned 16 in 1995. They bought it new in 79' and had it ever since. My Malibu is currently under a full body off restoration. I stripped a 79' for the frame, doors, and glass as a donor. My frame had rust on the rear rails from a poorly dealer installed receiver hitch which is long gone now. I have the frame blasted and primed in my garage as of today. Plans for this car are as follows.
2001 Chevy HD 6.0 LQ4 engine
1998-2002 F-body T-56 s-speed
1987 GN 8.5" diff
I already have the engine and rear for it. The rearend was previously installed after a very high rpm blast to the 7.5". Didn't turn out well. Anyone have a T-56 laying around they don't need? I have already replaced the rear control arms, springs, and anti-roll bar with Hotchkis equipment. I plan on swapping all this onto the 79' frame as soon as I get the frame painted and all the lines replaced. As for the front suspension, I want the Global West upper and lower tubular arms with the B-Body spindle swap. I'm getting closer to getting this car the wa I want it. I have put myself on a schedule of completion for the 2008 Power Tour. Plenty of time just in case. Well, I hope I didn't bore anyone and thanks for putting up this forum.
