don't worry about what some say concerning a 7.5 rear end....what are you running for a transmission?

I'm basing my opinion on an abundance of experience with the 7.5.....and what do you have?
i have broken 2 dozen of those 7.5's, not all in g-bodys either. from my experiences, the carriers have broken across the pin, the alxes have twisted, and i have had axle tubes turn about 30 degrees in the center section. but my favorite issue has got to be when the gears come apart and spit out the back of the pan.
my experience is that there are much better rearends out there, and the 7.5 is hardly a great choice for even a stock engine g-body. :puke:

sure you have....just because you claimed that happened doesn't tell me much...plus I've seen guys who think they know how to put a back together and it doesn't last too long..

Its got an F-body T-56 😀

you made a good choice for a T-56 with a 4:10....you need that 2nd overdrive with the rear end you have. I am running T5 WC with a .73 overdrive and I have a T5 WC I`m rebuilding that has a .68 overdrive gear...with the .68 at 120 kph (75 mph) I`m reving 2000 with 3:08 rear gears. What are you reving down the 401...

I know the second overdrive is .50...I was thinking about a T56 but it`s 50 lbs heavier and I like the 3:08 rear end so I`d never be using the 2nd overdrive. You must be shifting out of 1st before you think about shifting...

thats pretty decent revs for 105-110 kph and 4:10...with my .73 5th I`m at 2400 at 120 kpm but with the .68 5th gear I'm at 2000 at 120 kph (75 mph) I like the .68 and in 4th I can get it up close to 200 kph
