i'm guessing its a standard part number for the case, the T5 that I had in my 87 SS came out of a 91 Camaro RS, same case number, with a 91 date code

So I found a pretty good deal on a 2000 Camaro T-5. I would like to use the hydraulic throwout bearing setup if at all possible. I will be bolting this to a 1 piece rear main seal block 350 which may (i think) limit my flywheel choices to a 168 tooth flywheel though.

I think this is all the correct stuff to get:

2000 Camaro V6 5 speed
350 168 tooth manual flywheel
1990's S10 4.3 Bellhousing
1990's S10 Clutch
2000 Camaro hydraulic throwout bearing

Feel free to let me know if this pile of parts won't fit together correctly or if I need something more.

Haven't figured out exactly what to do for the pedal assembly yet, but that can be worried about a little later.

^yeah they crap out regularly behind 200 HP non supercharged versions of the s2 3800

Check the S10 bellhousing - dos it have the Chevy or ford case pattern? I have an Astro van bellhousing and T5, and believe it or not, they used a Ford-style case. Your 2000 F-body trans should also have this Ford pattern. As long as they are the same, they will bolt together. The Astro van used the larger 168-toth flywheel, but I am not sure about your S10 bellhousing. Do you know the diameter of the S10 clutch disc?

I think the style used with the 3.8 V6 had a longer stickout.

The claims that these transmissions are weak can be countered by locating a spare, if truly every yard has some. The fist gear is 3.35:1, which actually might be a good compromise for your highway gears.

They're weak as in popping every couple weeks. 200c autos are strong by comparison

I love these kinds of puzzles, and GM offers so many of them. S10 knuckes, LS1 brakes, Pontiac dashes.

I hope to encourage the OP to at least try. If he pulls off the conversion, an upgrade to a stronger gearbox in the future is also possible. I try to focus on providing information and letting the recipient make the decision.

I'm a 3800 guy so I know the trans lol. Is not a trans worth swapping into anything

I think the S10 clutch is 10.5 inches. At some point, I think all the T5 main cases went to the Ford bellhousing pattern, but I am not exactly sure what year.
