that's SOP for a dealer. remember, warranty repairs are only the broken part. if you have a plastic water pump impeller that melts and drops pieces into the coolant flow, they don't flush the coolant system--it's not broken. no do they replace the timing belt that rode on a bad pulley, prematurely wearing it--but not breaking it. or in your case, they do the broken bearing, not the others. even though you and i both know that the bad bearing dumped particulate into the system screwing up the rest of them. common sense ceases to exist when you enter the dealership.
btw, it's not the mechanics fault. it's what he's forced to do by his boss. sometimes the tech is smart enough to argue, sometimes not. and they only get paid for (and parts for) the minimum repair. even if they do a full one, so they get screwed.
