it sounds high to me,is that at fast idle or warmed up?what weight oil are you using? is the bypass blocked? I would change the filter and see if the pressure changes.

Do you have a large roller cam? That would be the only way I can see your idle being 1000-1100 this is where my 565 idles with a 740 lift and 270+ dur @ 0.050

I don't see anything wrong with 55 psi cold at all. That's about what my 350 olds gets. Hell my Ford has 70 psi cold at idle. No need to worry at all. Worry when you're not hardly getting any oil pressure.

I agree Evan, my little 260 pegs the gauge ( 60psi gauge) when cold and runs around 40 at idle when warm. Changing the oil filter won't do anything, motors bypass the filter when the motor is cold or when the filter is dirty.

I've been on the phone with comp cams to make sure, my idle should be set around 1000-1100 RPM. I thought it was kind've high too, i can get the engine to idle as low as 700 but the vacc signal is really weak.

I wouldn't really worry about the idle speed, I see your car has an auto trans as long as it doesn't stall or take two feet on the brake pedal at a red light to hold it I would leave it. Every motor acts different against the converter when it's in gear. Most guys I know with mild street motors in the car idle in the 900-1,150 range in park

I usually set them to run right around 850-900 rpm, you'll get more of that thumpy idle that I'm sure you're after with that cam. I've got my olds set to idle in gear right around 850-900, in park it's about 1000-1100 rpm. You're oil pressure is absolutely fine, no worries there. You must be used to Chevys, they usually get about 35-40 psi cold @ idle in stock form atleast.
