Oldsmobile oil pans

Thanks for posting. It's right on time for me, as I'm gathering parts for my 403. I'm assuming since your mentioning it here, that there is no interference with the crossmember?? Now for the dipstick... use a BBO stick, or... There has to be a fix, in order to get a proper reading on the stick.

There will be no interference with crossmember, built a very angry olds 350 back in 1988 and dropped into my 1986 442 with a BBO pan. Miss that car but still have the engine.
Proper reading of the stick, at that time I knew it had 6 quarts of oil. How would you fix it to read correctly, just an idea have the engine on a engine stand with the pan on add oil. Insert the tube but not all the way then add the dip stick and see what you get for a reading make adjustments as needed. Its just an idea.

So im new to the Olds engines.

Will a BB pan fit a Sb or vise versa?
They will interchange but the SBO pan on a BBO will be very close to the crank and will be whipping that oil like whip cream. I dont recommend using a SBO pan on a BBO .

Hahaha. No, if it's there, it's with the 455 I got on the stand in the shed. Now you got me wondering if I still have it or not.
If you still have that pan and know a tin knocker have that person flatten out the hump inside the pan. Problem with that pan is the hump, it kept oil in front of the pan and has no way to drain back to the sump other than driving up a hill.

OK popping this back up. Any idea if this will fit a GBody?

* Please note - does not fit 1975 400s
Ummmmm, the 400 ceased in 1969. :wtf:
Anyway, it looks like a knockoff Moroso which have been having structural issues (cracking). No idea if it fits in a G frame.
