Operation Lipstick on a Pig

After things got situated (engine and trans bolted in), a few more issues popped up. For those keeping score:
-The serpentine belt is now too long, so I have to play Belt Roulette again.
-The G-body high pressure line for the power steering just flat won't work. It's too long with too much hard line. I'm going to try the Firebird line first, then maybe have to get the hard section at the pump removed and a new fitting crimped on.
-The Firebird driveshaft needs to be lengthened 7 3/4". The stock one was rusted within an inch of it's life.
- The A/C compressor is really tight to the control arm. Even with the new brackets, I had to trim the arm a little; it now has 1/4-3/8" clearance. I can't rock the motor with the new mounts, so fingers crossed that it's enough.

It'll be alot of wiring and plumbing this weekend after I repair the heaterbox. I picked up fiberglass supplies the other day.

Keep in mind the Firebird line bolts to a rack.

Years ago I did a V8 conversion on an old Ford farm truck and the power steering lines wouldn't work so I used them both. I cut both steel lines slid one inside the other and brazed them together sounds nuts but it worked great.

get a piece of packaging twine, or any kind of string, and run it the way the belt would go... make sure it doesn't have any slack, and mark where the ends meet, then measure the length. subtract about a half inch and you'll be in the neighborhood of the right sized belt...
