You west coast guys are so spoiled with all your rust free vehicles 😉 I've been looking around on some west coast Craigslist sites. It's like time stopped out there... 10 year old cars don't look like Swiss cheese.

I've said it before on here but the rust you guys up north deal with is shocking.

It's really a shame. The first photo you posted makes the truck look really nice. Well equipped too. Your neighbor clearly cared for it.

It's funny it's like different worlds to each other. I can't imagine a place where I can drive down the street and see vehicles that are older than 10 that aren't covered in holes. I guess it's just one of those things we deal with. Then again we don't have nearly the amount of sun burnt paint and cracked and faded interiors that you guys deal with.
I'd still rather have no rust, though.

Yeah it doesn't look bad at all from 10 ft. And yes he really did like it. I believe he bought it new. He had the body totally redone in '07. New doors, front fenders, Tailgate, complete bedsides, core support, cab corners and rockers and fully repainted. He took great care of it. Mechanically it is as sound as could be. And I love the way it's equipped. 4x4, XLT Trim, 5.0, 5 speed, limited slip front and rear, Warn Hubs, lots of power equipment. Once I'm done with it, and it's got a new cab on it, it'll be as good as it could ever be. I'll be oil coating it with Fluid Film semi-annually to keep it from ever getting bad again.

WEST COAST...RUST FREE...you rang😉 I have all "patches" you need/want for ford or complete cab/beds avail.pm me when ready😉

Good to hear that the frame is solid. Changing cabs isn't that bad. I've done a few. The main concern you've got to figure out before you get started is how to lift the cab off the frame high enough to roll the frame out from under it. I used a chain hoist hung from the beams in the ceiling of my garage and a couple straps.

Figure out your lifting method, take your time and you can switch cabs. Good luck.

Love those 90's Ford trucks. My brother's first car was a '94 F150 XL, 5.8, 4x4, single cab, long bed. It was an ex-Animal Control that we bought from the city for $900 with 216k on it. Ran and drove like a champ, and it would light up that one tire all day long. A friend of mine has a '97 F250 Extended cab long bed, 460/5-speed that he bought brand new. Whatever you choose, it still looks like a sweet truck.

Thanks everyone. I brought the truck to an auto body friend of mine today, he's also a certified Ford nut (he has a crazy custom '86 F150, a GT500 and a new MKZ). He said he didn't think it was that bad. He thinks the cab cab be repaired. He said LMC makes most of the stuff, and we can fab anything they don't make. All good news, so I'm happy. The truck will be repaired one way or another!
