Going over the build sheet for my 79 Pontiac GP and was wondering if anyone could tell me what option codes these are for. D63, J44, L37, QFV, 19X, 6DY, 7BX, 8HJ, 9HJ. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Found out some of the codes but can't find J44, QFV, d63, and 19x. Also my car has code y97 , it's package, gse special edition. Anyone know what that means. Also any help with the other codes would be greatly appreciated.

I have contacted GM heritage center and Pontiac historical service and neither one can tell me what the codes are. Don't know what else to do. Guess I'll give up and never no what they are, oh well

L37 301 V8/VIN W, QFV is type/size of tire, 19X is the black interior trim/level "Big 4" trim option (dash, side/door panels, rear shelf areas)
D63 is a body related feature/option (mirror type?), J44 (maybe JA4?) is a brake system code (front disc/rear drum?)
6DY, 7BX, 8HJ, 9HJ should be assembly line parts type/group codes (you found these on a build sheet or on the Fisher Body plate?)

Found them on the build sheet. Thank you for the information. I have code y97 which is a gse special edition package, would you know what that would possibly be.

Y97 is listed as SJ trim option for your year (base of the GSE?)
Thank you for all your help. I really appreciate it. Couple more questions. Do you know what the standard radio would have been? Also did all the 4 speed cars come with a Hurst shifter?

I'm not sure if Grand Prixs came standard with a radio but if they did it would of been most likely the U63 AM radio with U76 windshild antenna.
The stock shifter for both 3 & 4 speeds would of been made by GM's ITM division (better known as the Inland divison of M1 carbine fame) & are almost exact copies of a Hurst Comp Plus.
