Original motor question

So I have a 85 Monte not the original engine does anyone know a way I can tell if it was a 6 or 8 cyl originally?

The chart show 7-g-h for the 8th digit mine is a z

One other thing my gas gauge and oil pressure gauge don't work because the guy before me hacked the harness and the only relay left is the blower motor are there wire I can twist together to get my gauges back?

The bulkhead connector should have 2 harnesses: 1 for the front lighting and horn, 1 for the HVAC relay and senders. The tan is oil pressure, and the green is coolant temp.
