OTA TV

What's funny is that I'm doing Sling on a hotspot, too. Out of all the channels they carry, I can't get TWO the wife wants to watch. It's been a point of contention for a minute, and I can't figure out how to add the right package. Sling is cool, but a pain with zero customer service.

No, not yet. I am pulling all the Baltimore stations i was trying to get. The engineers got back to me, only to tell me that it's set up wrong. Apparently, a 6' radius around the balun should be observed. Their ideal setup is the 2 stacked on a tower, 12' apart. Oh, well, i ain't doing all that. They also suggested unhooking one for it to act as a passive radiator. I may try that.
I also noticed a factory defect, so they're sending me a replacement. Then, I'll have 3?

ATSC has always been hot garbage for OTA tv. Hopefully ATSC 3.0 is better, as there is zero stations available on a 40 foot tower where I live.

Just a little update to the fiasco: I've been fighting an intermittent signal on the Baltimore stations for what seems like forever. I knew they were upgrading equipment for the airwave spectrum redistribution, and rescan day was 7/2. I had waited patiently, rescanned, and NOTHING. I was so pissed. The noon news on WBAL was straight up 4k on 7/1, then it crashed again. I emailed the president of WBAL, and he informed me that the antennas were being replaced 7/22-23 and they were running 75% power on alternate antennas. Well, today, another station provided proof with a live shot. I should be good to go in a week or so.

Hooptiewagon's Little Shop of Errors is right at the base of the tower, and he said all 3 were down around 4p.

Old topic, but I got problems. My "smart" antennas are now stupid. They can only pull in about 48 channels. (I know- don't hit me!) I put the old school aluminum UHF back up and pulled 74 stations. That doesn't make sense. I used a splitter and two TVs worked just as well. So I went and connected all 4 of my TVs to the UHF and I lost several key channels. Is it because I overloaded the antenna? I don't want to use an amplifier. I think just add another antenna in the attic for the other two?I have one like this^^^^^^^^ I was thinking a bow-tie type like this.1611289367810.png 1611289135858.png

Ahhhhh, the freakin' tv crap again. Still haven't got mine right. I've come to the conclusion that my signal is too obstructed.
I don't know what to tell you. I've tried a bunch of antennas, and the difference between them is slim. The bowtie style definitely have a wider range and are less directional.
The tower could also be turned down while they work on it. The whole spectrum realignment has taken way longer than I ever expected.

Has the 3.0 had any affect on you? Pittsburgh is supposed to be a testing area for it but then you need to get a new ATSC 3.0 tuner to be able to decode it, don't think its worth the hassle to me yet
