Paint color

I copied this from another thread, I have the same question......Why did GM have multiple colors for a code????

I was on oldsgmail.com looking up RPO codes when i got to 31U which was Artic white pearl(92) Is this wrong my car is Dk. Blue Metallic(31)?

Probably id the correct color. RPO codes did change from year to year. 31 could be a few different colors(as long as they're very different, white, blue, red). I doubt your car was painted the wrong color.

Thanks. I should have noted that i didnt think that my car was painted the wrong color though. I was more or less wondering why GM used the same code for different colors. Thanks again!
