Well, 565bbchevy, I suppose you are entitled to your opinion. Thing for you to consider is that my sunroof is NOT a genuine GM power unit, and I made no inference or claim that it was. What currently resides in the roof of my SS is some kind of generic ACCESSORY that some unknown had installed at some point in the life of this vehicle. In as much as I have never dropped the headliner to inspect the workmanship, I have no idea how well the job was done. Since the glass has remained closed for the last decade or so, I also have no idea what shape the gasket is in. It is entirely possible that, were I to attempt the open the unit, it would damage the gasket and where would I find a replacement for an item about which I know nothing, not even who made it and when. My personal search engines and resources are talented, but even they tend to draw the line at dealing with ghosts, parts made of unobtanium So...............................
AS for the 83 H/O T-top in the picture above, OUCH. Very glad it is not mine although I do feel for the owner. It would be a toss up between trying to rehab the frame using new metal or just biting the bullet and heading for the local pick a part to harvest an entire new one. Guess it'd depend on how readily available a donor vehicle might be in your area. I do have to wonder whether this is a rust belt located unit or maybe it went for a swim at some point in its past.
