Poor gas mileage??

These cars did come with an o2 sensor and they help to maintain the air/fuel ratio on your computer controlled carburetor (hence, the electrical connection) Your plugs will most likely tell you that it is running super rich and this is because your carburetor isn't working correctly. You will need to change you spark plugs and as far as your carburetor issue you would really have just 2 options:
1. A non-computer controlled carburetor
2. Install an o2 sensor in your exhaust system and plug it in

Your o2 sensor is different than removing all the smog pump and air tubes. You can still run an o2 sensor without these components. :mrgreen:
 
My daughter had an 82' Riviera with 307. I tried everything, and still got 8-10 mpg.

why are you bumping? your answer is that you have 2.14's and your in san fran, what else are you wondering
 
I think Ritter had it earlier. If you have an electronic/emissions carb and there's no oxy sensor (and maybe other things disconnected,too), the computer is programmed to run it full rich. Add in a 2.14 rear end and hilly streets, that'll probably net you about 10 mpg.
