3.23 or 3.08 sound pretty good, because I drive probablly equally city & highway.

I guess I need to look for a performance locker. Do Camaro's and 'birds have those? What year range has the same spline count??

I believe 1982-1987(?). They are a clutch type limited slip made by Auburn. I hear mixed reviews on them but most people say that they are at least better than the Gov-Loc from the S-10s. The problem with the Camaro units is that they were never available with gears deeper than 2.73's. So if you are using gears 3.23 or steeper a ring gear spacer is necessary.

Do you think the spacer would be ok to run with the power of the 355?

Checked some of the s-10's today and no posi, but one has 3.42 gears. Still have to check the camaros and 'birds.

I did find one though A '77 GP with 2.41 posi, I was thinking I could get it and run a spacer for the 3.42 gears. But I was told the center section was different between '77 and '78, Is that correct?? So I would need to find a 7.5" '78 or newer then?

"The posi /limited slip /locker found in the s-10 and most all trucks are Gov lock limited slip units...THEY ARE NOT MADE for performance type driving applications" X2 boooom!

Yes, I know that... I was just thinking of using the S-10 3.42 gears, not a whole center section. Although a guy I know runs a 455 in his g-body regal drag car with a s-10 posi unit and It hasn't broke.

I was asking about the one from the '77 GP. Will that work?????

If its an actual 77', then that would be the previous generation a-body. It should have an 8.5 rear, so no the guts won't work.
Now if you really wanted to it should be possible to use the entire rear. You would need the swap arms, shorter driveshaft and sifferent offset rims, just to get you started.

It was a 7.5", because it had the little "fangs" on the bottom, not the squared off protrusions. The driveshaft and all the arms were torched off and it was just laying under the car. Will it work since its a 7.5??

It just seemed wierd to me that the internals would change, i thought 7.5s were all the same... I got the posi tag off it at least
