You will have to pull the axles out in the process of taking the carrier out. So ya you will be able to count the splines to be sure. The 2.41 would be a 2 series while the 3.42 is a three. That is exactly what the spacer is for.

I think i will pull the unit soon... i just need to find somebody that has done it before to help me, because I don't want to mess things up.
