By far the shifter is the most valuable part on that whole car. worth more than what the car is actually. save it. or get $500 for it.

smart choice parting that mess out. it may be on the rare side but will never be worth what it takes to get the thing nice again. it sucks but the way it is.

Just an update:
I started tearing it apart and as much as it hurts this car is done. Everywhere I turn there’s more rust.
Edit: it looks like the install of the t tops caused the majority of the rust more than the t tops leaking. The car also spent a lot of time parked under a pine tree and all the glass trim area was packed with needles.

Sounds like a perfect excuse for throwing an absurdly large big block in it and hurling it down the track until they kick you out.
I’m nervous driving this car in my driveway. I can’t believe the kid was driving it. The front end is shot and the column needs to be rebuilt. Engine runs like a top surprisingly. And they closed the damn track in Englishtown.

looks like the only thing holding it together was the paint.

Took a deposit today on the engine/trans so I really dug in to stripping the car. So sad. It amazes me that as much rust as the whole car has, the area by the wiper motor is pristine. My Malibu that lived in a garage it’s entire life is rusted right there.

I was going to cut the car up and despise of the body piece by piece, but this corona virus thing has NJ shutting down soon. I have to pay a guy to haul the carcass away tomorrow so I can free up my garage space for my Malibu. As bad as the car was, it still was painful to chop it up, but I did find rust everywhere.
Warning graphic pics.
