I don't think the factory ever did it, but I will ask. Were there any factory power mirror G bodies made? If not, has anyone ever converted one? I have thought about using the 87-88 mirror pods with a F body power mechanism, or the earlier sport mirrors with the power mech. from a 1982 Corvette, but I am sort of stuck on the switch. I want it to look stock, but I can't figure out what to use. So far, my best guess is a 1984 AMC Eagle switch. Anyhow, all thoughts are welcome on my latest crackpot idea to out option a 80's Caddy with an Olds.

I know there is a how to/tutorial on a g-body monte forum. I don't have the site because I'm on my laptop.

They basically swapped a power setup from a f-body camaro because the mirrors are the same shape. I remember a different switch from a lincon or something, it looked completely stock and right at home with the other switches.

The Lincoln switch actually makes some sense. It may be the same switch I am thinking about as I know AMC used Ford switches and motors for their power windows and locks in the 80's. It makes sense that they would have used their mirror switch as well.

My 87 GP has Power Mirror (driver side) but it doesn't work 🙁 It's a factory option.

Is it power or remote? Remote has that little joy stick that connects by wires to move the mirror. I have that one already on mine, and it is not the most responsive thing in the world.

This is a 90's Caprice power mirror switch in a Buick CSII door panel installed in a Monte controlling Firebird mirror motors. The switch nearly drops into the original manual remote bezel and looks sweet.
There's a couple of threads at montecarloss.com that should give you everything you need to know. One is about the using the Caprice switch and the other goes into more detail about the installation.

Thanks for the link! I will definitely have to start sourcing some of the pieces to do this once money picks up again. Late model cars will have nothing on my Cutlass now.... Except for fuel economy, safety, fuel injection, independent rear suspension, aerodynamics...

I hate the remote one. I wish I could get my power locks and mirror going again.

I took the pics to do my tutorial on the lock switches, but I never posted it.

Anyhow, you need to take the lower door panels off and take the switches apart. They probably either have dirty contacts or wear on the rocker. I like to sand the contacts a bit and then bend them to add a little angle to them. Not too much, just a little. This ensures that they will work. I also pot all the external connections in dielectric grease (not inside the switch housing) as this tends to keep the connections fresh and free of corrosion. I did this with all my window wiring when I put it back in, and I think I did the locks as well. This is especially important for the motors as they sit inside the door and get wet a lot. If you need to clean the contacts in the connectors, you could use some contact cleaner, maybe a mild acid solution (risky), or even a very small burr on a Dremel. I have used all three to varying degrees of success. Just remember to neutralize the acid if you go that route. If not, you won't have any connection left!

Well, I found the Corvette mirrors that were power, but used the same housing as our cars listed on E-Bay. $400 for a set of USED mirrors??? Really??? I gotta start looking for Corvettes in the U pull it! If that is what they go for, I guess it narrows it down to the Camaro/ late Monte style then. I just wonder if the angle at the door will also fit the Cutlass/Regal doors?
