The return hose fitting gets hot at the gear box as well, but not the pressure line. Could this be a blockage somewhere?

how is the box getting hot enough to cause the fluid in the reservoir to smoke and the high pressure line is not hot?

I'm not quite sure, could the fluid not be making it from the pump into the pressure line?

if there was no fluid coming from the pump you would not be able to bleed the system, and where would the heat on the return line coming from? Did you remove the v belt to see if the ps pump pulley turned freely?

This is why you always replace one part at a time, then test it, then move on to the next part change.

YEAH YEAH I don't do one part a time either. But it sure sounds good!
