That IS NOT a diagram for a G-bodies Power Windows.

G-body motors are not grounded.

it's from malibu racing for A/G body wiring diagrams, the one we have been using for as long as I can remember. If you look at my previous post I acknowledged that the wiring on the diagram was not correct and that is missing the ground from the switch so we already knew that diagram was not correct.

G-body wiring should look like this:

The Positive/Negative of the motor switches poles to go up/down. There shouldn't be a center ground.

It's a lot more tricky to get right than the Center Ground/Three wire motors - because both Power and Ground have to switch places, so most newer Power Windows run a separate ground to the motors.

I was just reading this post for the first time today, looked at the diagram and said "that's not how any of this works" and posted. I didn't read any further.

It looks like the OP figured out the diagram wasn't right pretty quickly.

Just another example of anyone can put anything on the internet... It doesn't mean its right.

Not really. The correct switch is DPDT that changes polarity of the Blue & Brown wires.

The non correct wiring diagram makes an open circuit instead of a path to ground.

That is why the F-body "Fast Power Windows" diagram doesn't work on a G-body.
 
Since the diagrams are the same except for the ground it would be nice if someone who has a 78 A/G body could look at the driver's switch to see if it has a ground wire. It could be that the ground configuration was changed and the diagram from Malibu racing is from the system before the ground was changed.
 
Get rid of the test light and use a voltmeter. Remember, switches change polarity for motors to go up or down. Start at drivers and make sure you have battery voltage to and through master switch AND when you engage the window motor. Use a known good ground on volt meter. Then do same with the ground side with one lead to a known good battery voltage source. You may be losing voltage or ground when under load and the test light might not see it.
 
That is why the F-body "Fast Power Windows" diagram doesn't work on a G-body.

if you go back to that thread you will see it does work on a G body, the diagram was missing a ground on the 87A which Jared remembered after it was figured out what was missing. My windows are working quicker with the help from Jared and the diagram.
