Pretzels

THIS is a pretzel, called a breze in German and Brez'n in Bavarian:

IC beer is garbage, everyone knows that.

What is Pittsburgh food? Pierogies, Primanti's sandwiches? Heinz Ketchup? Primanti's sandwiches are okay but overrated. Good pierogies can be pretty awesome. The frozen Mrs. T's ones are drunk food. I don't like ketchup, at all.

Pennsylvania has a HUGE population of people of German/Prussian descent this dates back to colonial American times. To this day, they have a large popular of Amish (slang would be Pennsylvania Dutch which is a bastardization of Deutsch) many of whom still speak a dialect of German.
But this is also one of the reason for the prevalence of pretzel and beer makers in Pennsylvania.

But Pittsburgh foods have a lot of iron in them! 🙂

Funny thing is a coal mining company (Rosebud) in Kittanning, Pa looks to be the current owners. Think their miners have to wear the Iron City logo on their hard hats.

I’m not sure if Snyder’s in Hanover is regional. I think they only supply areas that can be reached within a certain amount of time from their production facilities. In other words regional. But if you can get them, Snyder’s Olde Tyme pretzels are fantastic. They used to make an apple and cinnamon pretzel bits that were great, but don’t make them anymore.

Is Charles Chips (and pretzels) still in existence? Another Pennsylvania brand. I haven't seen their products in years.
