Ive been driving my car around a little bit and having carb problems heres whats happening when its sitting in park and u rev it it revs fine but when u are driving it and sitting at a stop and punch it it hesitates then pops but if your cruising and eas into the throttle then it accelerates fine somebody told me it could be the power valve im not sure what this does but like i said its fine when u eas into throttle but if u punch it it hesitates and pops i recently replaced the plugs wires and gas and the disributer does anybody know???????????

What did you set the timing to when you put in the dist.

Could just be a bad accelerator pump. Stating what carb you have may help.....

id certainly start with something easy like double checking your timing

holley are easilty tuned if you know what your doin. after the timing check change the shooter. usually a pop or backfire its lean off idle and a bog its rich. just start with the shooter first and go from there. you either buy ones that go up in orifice size or get a drill index at your local hobby shop and start going up in size with that. i run a porting shop in the midwest here and do many holley upgrades as well.
jmo.

also on the power valve to know you have the right one needed you need to put a vacuum gauge on a direct manifold vacuum source. Put the gauge where it can be seen while driving. If you take a reading just at idle and on gear that will suffice what reading you get will be the number you base your power valve on. Its always 2 numbers under your reading.these are only necesary for street driving.they act as an intermediate circuit before the main system starts drawing through the booster. You will find the more aggresive the cam the lower the power valve. Hope this helps and didnt ramble

first: what kind of carburetor? Any missing or cracked vacuum hoses? Is the throttle shaft worn out and sucking air?
second: what is your timing set at? I hope you used a timing light?

It was the power valve i changed it and adjusted the timing and the idle and its better thanks for the help guys
