Toby, I have a couple of questions. Are you going to use the new reproduction doors on this car? If so, are you going to try to save the stickers that came on the original doors that have the VIN and production date information on them? They're usually on the rear door jamb area of the driver's side door. To me, that would be an important step in preserving the originality of the car during the restoration. I've got an '86 GP 2+2 here, and there is both rust and some minor damage on the driver's side door, and I thought that if I ever decide to restore the car, I'd need to figure out a way to preserve those stickers on the door, in order to keep all of the original production information for the car intact. Just curious, because you've gone to great lengths to try to keep that car as original as possible.

You can get more door stickers that are gm replicas and have the information placed on the sticker. This is what I plan on doing for the doors. As for the RPO I have that one removed from the trunk.

If I'm not being too curious here, where would you get the stickers for the inside of the driver's door?

I believe the parts place carries them, and if you dont like them Gbodyparts can get them for you as well.

We are all waiting with baited breath for the car to be all together in the day light. I am not putting near as much effort in to mine as you, and I am getting antsy! I sold my hotord truck that was running and driving for my cutlass, not I just want to drive it, and I have had nothing but snags so far

Are you going to paint the car aswell? Cause im about to start the body work process on my cutty but need to know who is a great painter in Cincinnati

THanks for the compliments!

Yea, I thought about that as well. But I wanted to keep certain things especially out in the open original for points factors. To make a long story short the shocks had some holes after cleaning rust on them so I have a new pair of AC Delco Air shocks to put back on

I have a pair of original air shocks i took off my car, [1985] they look like yours now but i do not see any holes in them and they do work, i had air in them for a couple weeks before i removed them. My car is to far from ever being original again so if you want them you can have them.

Was able to get my car into the paint shop this weekend coming up, so it was fast forward time for me again to get going so I needed to strip and paint the bumpers, trunk deck and the reinforcements. Next will to do the bumper covers and hood, then I am finished and ready for saturday.

Finished removing the finish off both the front end header panel as well as the fascia. THere must have been over a pound of paint on each part. it was rediculous the amount of paint that I had to remove.

the amount of paint removed from the header panel
