i love this build i dont know if it is the fact that it is making me want to stick my 8.1 into my car and lose the t5 or the fact that everything is massive and amazing loving the updates

Keeping an eye on this build. Did you do the fuzzy math items? Compression, fuel pressure, fuel/air mix, blow off pressure yadda yadda. Knew a guy that bought a turbo for his 94 eclipse non turbo car. Manifold bolted right on .Told him not sure if that's right. 4 hours later " um kinda need a ride". Melted the pistons with in 50 miles. Lol

I'm sure the compression would be low enough being a 79 454. I didn't see what the plans were for fuel and induction. Liking this build though.

Compression should be fine, as this motor would have only had about 8:1 when it was new. As far as fuel, I'm running blow through on propane, and from the research I have done, it seems like the mixer will do a lot of compensation for boost as long as I run a vacuum line pre turbo inlet to the vaporizer. I have been contemplating building this motor for the boost, but for now I think I'm going to just throw 7-10psi at it the way it is. Believe it or not this will continue to be my daily driver for 6 months out of the year (barring down time for breaking stuff, of course,) and time is running out. Would like to be done for April.

So I happened to spot this pipe sticking out from the scrap metal bin behind my work. Turned out to be a 5" tailpipe from a dodge diesel.

From this I was able to make my entire downpipe with 2 bends left over!

I decided to call this project "Con Artist," mainly because I hate the term 'sleeper,' even though the goal here is exactly that. It starts with a somewhat rusty 1980 Malibu, add a bunch of suspension upgrades, and a boosted 454 under an un-molested hood, and you have Project Con Artist.

Unfortunately the wheels don't do much for the modest look I'm trying to go for, but I'm always on the hunt for something that would suit it better.
