BUILD THREAD Project Olds Cool (Recognition!!)

I've got a whole car painted in your gray. There's no way you can capture that glitter in the sun from a picture. I've tried. It looks so much better in person.

Truth. It looks way better in person.

No other thoughts or comments on the colors or pinstripe placement from you guys??
🤔

I think the red could work, considering the interior, but its a small area and I wonder what it'll look like in the bigger picture (you have that picture in your mind, I can only guess). I would be curious to see what that section looks like with the trim pieces there...

Great job paying attention to the details. In the end those are the things that will set Olds Cool apart.

I done told you I ain't like it !

I get what you're trying to do, but I think the trunk is just too much. That and 2 stripes. Either make 1 a contrasting color, or eliminate the thin one on the white.

Ugh. You two.
No vision, no imagination. I give up.

I'm a rep stock guy, so for me I'd have to stick to the factory setup, just on the back of the lid and around the taillights. But that's just because that's the way I always remember them being. And I worked with an absolute jerk in the 90's who two toned his white 80 with dark blue in a very similar scheme, so I'm having some shell shock. Ultimately it's your car, do it the way that speaks to you, and any way you do it will look awesome. I'll keep driving my faded, lacquer checked factory stock paint, two toned with lots of surface rust. I appreciate you asking for our opinions.

No offence, but that’s the one area of the factory 442 paint schemes on these cars that I absolutely despised. Talk about looking like an afterthought. “Yeah, it looks kinda naked back here, we’ll just add this blob of the second color back here, but only on the back panel.”

No thanks, I’ll proceed with my original plan. You’re right though, it IS my car, and I’m gonna do it how I see fit. The haters gonna hate, so be it.

I get that Bruce, but if you look at how they were done originally, they used a double line pinstripe at the color break. I’m doing exactly the same, even the same spacing and widths, just changing the color.

It’s alright brother, we’ll just agree to disagree on this.
