Proof some people have more money than brains

1968. I recall that it was the first 'Chase Scene' used in a movie not about racing. Also, the whole romp around San Francisco was supposed to have been filmed in 3 days, with that danged Beetle passing him on every block...

I thought they were going to donate it to the Henry Ford Museum or the Smithsonian? I guess money talks.

One of the Mustangs used in filming was just found in Mexico a short time ago. No one even knew it was one of the cars until the VIN was researched. The one just sold wasn’t even in terrific condition in the movie. I thought it was more like a 13 speed considering all of the shift sounds the Foley artists put in there. One of the original Chargers still exists too. My old boss just told me hearing about someone having it. I asked him if the owner has all 15 hubcaps that came off of it during filming.

For whoever prefers the 69 charger (me 😜 ), there is a build thread on pro-touring of one being built that's off the chain nice in fabrication & craftsmanship. I put the link to the last page cuz it's so long. https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/106855-Modern-Bullitt-Charger-build/page59?p=1318894#post1318894 Pat also built a bullitt mustang previously.

So, I guess this thread brings up another question probably worthy of a new thread. What would be the greatest car chase scene of all times? I can't really pick one . Bullitt at least was real driving & filming, though the surrounding traffic was hoaky . Gone in 60 seconds 2 had some unrealistic cg & stuff , as do all the fast &furious movies, gotta leave common sense out to enjoy them any.🤪
