Not to take anything away from the Quad's
But...
This almost priced right to be messing with carburetors...

Plus you have to redo your entire fuel system. Most rebuilt qjets from places like SMI, QuadraJetPower, and EverydayPerformance are 350$ and when knew work as well as any fuel injection setup like that.

I looked at EFI and chose not to go that path. I can get out more from a carb than EFI with a computer and it's not messing with a quadrajet, it's fun tweaking them and the more you learn about them the easier it is to tweak and the more you can get out of them. Also with a wideband air/fuel mixture gauge I can see what the carb is doing throughout the revs and tweak the carb accordingly. I do not like computers in cars and since I don't need one in my GP I'm keeping it that way.

I'm really liking how it allows me to boost my low compression engine. Add a couple sensors and a fuel pump and go.

let me know how that is working in about 10 years and what repairs you have done to it. The carb I bought is almost 40 years old. A carb kit for my carb is about $70 and horn gaskets are about $4 each in case I damage one when tweaking my carb.

My bad, didn't mean to hijack your stuff.
Just thought I'd share.

I don't mind it at all that your brought up EFI and pointed out your views on it to give people something to think about. If someone is confused by a quadrajet and isn't interested in learning about them then giving them other options like EFI is what this forum does. I was just bragging about finding an carb I have been looking for for a at least a year. The 800 cfm's from 75 to 79 iare a hard thing to find especially in Canada

Nice find on the Qjet!

I love the Qjet as far as performace and efficientcy. It's really an engineering marvel of the 20th century.

Is it installed yet? If so, how did it work out of the box? How much calibration did it require?

Qjet is the way to go! I had to replace my Qjet with a Qjet from a Buick LeSabre. Changed the hangers and secondary metering rods to the original 442 rods. The rods from the LeSabre where not as tapered as the 442 rods. You can't beat that deep roaring sound of those vacuum secondaries opening up. Makes me want to trash the idea of EFI swap and slap a Qjet on.

It's not in yet, I need to pick up a part for the throttle linkage which I will do later today
