I used this very same type compressor to install my new coil springs without any problems. While I didn`t have an airgun to use as I don`t have a compressor at home, I did use a electric impact and it went well.

I borrowed a spring compressor from Autozone. You pay a $100 deposit and get it back when you return it undamaged. Look it over before you accept it - the first one they offered was boogered, but the one they brought in the next day was brand-new.

Had sometime to think over what we had at the dealership that I worked at years back, found a parts store that has one to loan. This has one set of hooks and a plate with groves and notches to catch the spring. It's made by OEM, p/n 27035. Looks like it'll be done this coming weekend.

"......so the flat stock,or angle iron piece is place on the bottom of the lower a-arm,or where?....."

Basically, drill a hole in the center of a piece angle/flat stock that's about 8-12" long (big enough not to pull thru the hole where the shock goes up in the lower control arm).

or take the top part of the compressor tool off and put that threw the shock hole.

that's how I do it.

that is great idea, if you just want to jump to the spring installation advance the video to the 14 minute mark

I use one like this, the one I had was too long so I cut it shorter and it works ok as long as you take your time. It easier to use with an impact gun

I use the same thing rented from autozone.make sure to slap a little grease on the threads and washers.an impact works great but be careful as you can strip the threads on the tool.

I used allthread also did it a couple of time for various reasons and each time it went smoothly.
