Bought this 79 cutlass about a month ago. Was underneath and noticed some movement in and out just a bit of play

it’s got a Posi 10 bolt rear 3.73 gears reading past build sheet from couple owners ago

is it normal when I grab the tire for the it to have a bit of in out play ?
Looks like the axel moves a bit not much in and out ? Not sure if it’s normal on these

GM 10 bolt, yes some movement is normal. Part of straight roller axle bearings and C clip style rears.

It will not be solid unless a rear has ball bearing on the ends, like a big Ford 9" or independent rear.
Good to know this.
Was worried there for a minute
