That 7.5 came out great and for your purposes, it'll do the job. I just wouldn't throw 500+ HP
at her...Now that 8.5, hats off to you bro, looks awesome!!! Good, no wait Great job!!

Aw man I really appreciate the comment 8) ! Thanks for the heads up on the 7.5. The 7.5 is goin in my 78 malibu with a lil 350 with maybe just over 300hp. Nothing crazy. I'll be running stock 15" Monte Carlo SS wheels and a 235/60/15 tire for daily driving. An occasional donut or lil burn out. But mainly daily drive to work and Arizona. Preciate' the feedback and heads up 😀

THANKS FELLAS!! 😀 Really appreciate the feedback. I worked on this one and my Grand national rear at the same time-going back and forth on both rears. Knocked both out in no time at all. The 8.5 Came out Killer and was a lil more involved because I had to do the entire swap from drums to disc. Really easy to do (with the correct tools) Here's a few pics of the "Grand Nasty  rear after I did the swap and did the same cleanup...I added the photos here to show all the "new dudes" like me that we can do it too!! Lil time and patience, and work safely and it can be done...

Grand Nasty 8.5:twisted:

Aircraft stripped the POR-15 off. It was lifting in areas so I decided to redo it..

Decided to spray it right quick to keep the surface rust at bay. I'll start a project and then let it sit for a while (get lazy basically lol) so I added a lil Eastwood primer..

You sure the stock monte rims will fit? I don't think they do, not 100% sure though. Hell they were still putting 7.5" rears behind ls1 f body's so I think with your mods it will stand up to all the abuse the sbc can dish out. GREAT WORK AS USUAL

Thanks for checking em out bruh! I took my stock SS wheels and mounted em up. I had a tad bit over 1/8" of clearance. Wheels spun with no issues. I could shave a Lil off the cooling fins on the caliper(which I should have done anyway). Then there is the 17" option in that wheel style. I really wanted to keep it at a 15" wheel cuz I like the raised white lettering look Primewell's have. I guess I could use some white wall paint and do it myself if I went with 17's..

I really really appreciate those words fellas! Thanks VERY much. Elco Mel (melman109) and Malibu Chris (Kuruption109) will both tell you Im really hard on my self when it comes to anything im working on. I still have a little ways to go on both rears, but the hard part (if any) has been done. I got tired of looking at both rears in a hot ghetto mess. LOL So I made an attempt to get up (I work nights 5pm-4am) and get it done...Soon as i do a little more practicing on the welding, I'll get the brace kit welded up and either take the7.5 rear out to arizona where the Malibu it and install, or just wait til I get her home. The 8.5 is goin in the Elco. Im still debating on if Im gonna keep the TA girdle for it, or run the LPW "Ultimate 10" girdle and brace kit....

Thanks again fellas!! 😀 Im super pumped to put some work in this weekend..
