Are there any experts out here? I'm trying to find a good ratio for my racecar. Currently have a mostly stock 350/th350. The track ill be at is a 1/2 mile asphalt oval. I know there are alot of these threads but I've only seen them about drag cars or street cars. Forgive me if i missed one.

that's 1.52 ratio...we use to run a powerglide with with the 1.82 ratio and we ran a 3.08 gear on a 1/2" mile track which gave us a 5.60 final drive.....if your going to run it in 2nd I'd try a 3.73 gear which will give you a 5.66 final drive..for the transmission I would run it a pint low on fluid and would attach a hose to the vent tube and run that hose up the firewall to let the fluid expand without dumping it on the track and make sure you run a tanny cooler

ok. i was thinking either a 3.42 or a 3.73

are you running a 2 or 4 bbl carb...

oh and run a cooler for the power steering fluid as well

if it's a 4 bbl then 3.42 might be better..with 3.73 you'll run out of power long before your mark at the end of the straight...do you run a rev limiter?

ouch....then I would go with the 3.42....what are the other guys running, most guys at the track will help you out...
