Also does it matter if the rear is lowered 3 inches if it is i will raise the rear back up. thanks for any help

well, on my 79 grand prix, i have 15x8 pro stars with 4.5" back spacing, BUT i have an inch spacer on both sides (so, 3.5" back spacing will be better so no spacers is required), and i have 29x10 hoosier slicks with plenty of room for them to grow. i also rolled the fender lip.

That's going to be a tight fit. I'm running 245/60/15 on 15 x 7 with 4.5 backspacing on my Monte Carlo SS and I have about 3/8 of an inch between the tires and inner wheel wells. I think if the rims were 15 x 8 she'd be pretty much full up in there.

well, i would take the 3" lowering kit off, and i would see no problem with the 255 dr. the 4.5" back spacing will be deeper, which means it will be closer to the frame.

the 15x4's your gonna want some p195/60r15 or p205/60r15
if you are going to put 15x10's on the back then you want p275/60r15 or p295/55r15.just depends on what you want.i have an 84 monte with 15x8's on the front and 15x10's on the back sporting
bfgoodrich radial t/a's
P215/60R15 FRONT
P275/60R15 REAR.
looks really good and the old school cragar ss that i have on it.
would recomend that combo to anybody.

The Elk was built on the wagon frame and floor pan so the rear frame is different than the other G-bodies. I work with a guy that has a set of 17x9 on an '82 with a 1" spacer and 4.5" back spacing I think :?: I don't think the wheel wells are as deep as the other Gs also.

Ok, how did you get the 275's to fit out back? Or do they stick out past the wheel well?
