you might have to take the distributor out depending on your engine so if you dont have any experience working with distributors its probably more of a headache than getting someone to help you

He has a 307 so no need to pull the distributor.

Just an FYI on the radiator drain plug. Righty tighty lefty loosy applies in this situation however it works in reverse. By tightening the petcock your actually opening it up to let the fluid out.

Something else to keep in mind is when you do get the manifold off, stuff some rags in the intake ports of the heads and lay a towel in the lifter valley to keep any junk from getting into the engine while you clean the surfaces.

You may also find it makes the process easier by removing the oil fill tube at the front of the block. It just takes a couple of smacks with a rubber mallet and you should be able to wiggle it out. To put it back in, just smack it with the rubber hammer.
Without doing that it makes it a bit tought to get the intake to sit straight the first time. You'll be hitting that tube and the distributor.

Yeah I loosened the drain plug first and nothing came out so then I tightened it up and nothing came out so I figured I didn't loosen it enough and tried to loosen it more and that's when the head broke.

Im kind of stuck right now. So far I disconnected all the vacuum hoses and moved the alt. And compressor brackets out of the way. There is this thing that is right next to the alt. And it is connected to the intake and also has a bar coming out of it that is connected at the carb to what I think is a transmission line. My question is how do I disconnect it so I can move it out the way?

that is your cruise control system and it should be bolted underneath to the head I believe..you slide the cable for the transmission forward and it will pull off and then the rod for the cruise will slide off

I tried to pull it forward but it wouldn't come off

the pin on the lever on the carb just slides into slot on the back of the nylon piece and snaps in place so if you hold the lever on the carb and pull the nylon piece towards the front of the car it will come off...

and remember to LABEL EVRYTHING! if ya do that youll have a better shot putting everything back correctly.

Yeah i been labeling everything with white tape and writing numbers on the tape then i take notes and take pics of everything. Im just a rookie when it comes to working on cars so I was unsure how to disconnect the linkage without breaking anything lol. Im just tryna learn so I can build my car up by myself like all you guys lol

just take your time and you'll get there and you have a nice clean looking cutlass to work on..
