Re: Project GNX-SS Build Thread V 2.0 The Rebirth with PICS***
Project GNX-SS V. 2.0 has begun.
A beautiful afternoon in Central Kentucky yielded itself to the first stage of the interior transformation
and modifications. As you can see in the pics, I found a nasty surprise lurking under the carpet. A nice piece of
sheet metal laying on top of a gigantic hole beneath the pedals. Redneck engineering at its best. I also found a shop rag
stuffed into the hole that the cruise control options went thru the firewall which was the reason that the floor rotted in the
first damn place due to a huge water leak thru said hole. So, I got out the angle grinder and got rid of the cancer and prepped it for
a patch panel. The rest of the floor actually looked great, so I cleaned it up with the shop vac and sprayed two to three coats of rustoleum
black over the surface. I will probably undercoat the floor prior to installing new carpet. I also removed all the seats and all the seat belts.
So, as soon as the patch panel gets put in, Ill begin design of the console. The first pic is just a reminder to those of what the car looks like in its
current configuration or the baseline look. Let the fun begin!!
The Baseline:
Pulled the seats and carpet and found this:
Which had this beauty laying, yes laying, on top of it:
After cutting out some of the cancer:
Rust Proofing the rest of the floor:
Rear seat is no more:
