what!!!! no they wont its on top of the oil gal. you have never rebuilt an engine have you?

Wow, might want to slow down there. Didn't think about the oil galley, which I still wouldn't be crazy about running into. I was just thinking about it because the factory roller blocks have at least half to three quarter inch bosses for the bolts. And yes I built 4 small blocks last summer alone.

The retro hyd roller lifters have started to finally come down in price. Howards sells their brand for around $297.00 or so. We recently bought a set of Lunati hyd retro roller lifters pn#72330LUN for my 406, new on e-bay for $330.00 Just dropped in. We ended up with shorter (7.20) pushrods.

well lets see $297+300 for the cam (give or take ) =$600 ...... $600 that i dont have plus i want to try it

I have researched this alot before, and it seems like the only way to go is the aftermarket retrofit route. I don't think you'd be saving money, and definitely not time. I guess if you got everything used it might be cheaper, but it seemed like to me if you don't know exactly what you're doin and you don't file the lifter bores right, etc., you'll have problems. That's what theywere sayin on a few sites I looked at. Anyways, good luck. Is the howard's setup pretty good quality? I want to go roller and I was wondering, because their kit is quite a bit cheaper. I just want a cheap reliable street setup.

well it takes some heart to try some thing different (thats how all the old school guys did it ) there was no edelbrock comp cams or other big name brands :|

Now it get to ask you what?! All the aftermarket brands were around long before GM cam out with factory roller cams in a small block.
