I thought we did that thing on Mondays????? The "P" word

...rules are rules, unless they have changed?
Rules are what they've always been. We're all guests in a private, but free, forum. While here the only rule is only what Bossman wants is permitted. All the other policies, rules, interpretations, whatevers go to enforce that one, unchanging, rule.
Its all good, apparently its who you are on this site, coat it with as much frosting as you like, its still sh*t
I think it's more a mix of context, behavior, history, and goal/direction of the content that defines your leeway. I guess part of that is wrapped up in who you are, but... meh. Defer to rule #1 above.

Now, to eliminate the hijack... really I think one of the bigger problems is that niche (what is the word... productive/hands on making of things?) hobbies are largely not understood by those making the rules. They dont typically work with their hands, or do manual labor intensive activities.

I'm talking your metal artists, plant growers, auto enthusiasts, gun builders/shooters, woodworkers, basically the people working hard with their hands. The governing powers that be are usually either ultra urban or high income types that simply don't participate and thus, don't understand, the things they try to legislate.

So you lose common sense. You get crazy bills/laws thrown out there. And in the process you lose something as society as well.

I doubt that. I've pissed in a lot of bowls of cornflakes around here. Don't assume I am getting special treatment.

However: It's not what you say - it's how you say it.

this entire thread right now.

Look, I *could* have deleted this thread based on the "overzealous EPA, good they're going after the brodozers(ha), etc." yeah, I could have, maybe I should have, I dunno. I didn't.

Because the core of this thread is about the RPM Act, which just gives the automotive hobby and professional motorsports an exemption from rules that exist or will exist. I mean, I *thought* we were all on board with that, right? This bill is very simple at its core, and actually if you read it,

“No action with respect to any device or element of design referred to in paragraph (3) shall be treated as a prohibited act under that paragraph if the action is for the purpose of modifying a motor vehicle into a vehicle that is not legal for operation on a street or highway and is to be used solely for competition.”.

doesn't even apply to hobbyists, or the automotive aftermarket for anything street-legal, only for racing or pure trailer-queen show cars. so I mean, technically it doesn't even apply to most of us, but it should still be added, right? right? I mean, what's the problem here?

Nobody should be taking this as a green light "oh hey we can post political bullshit now? cool!" and go nuts because I will do like I've always done.

If you comment on this thread and don't take the 20 seconds to send your representatives a note using the convenient submission form, angry pixies will deposit little bits of debris in your injectors or carb jets.

If your car isn't running they will deposit salt in your rear frame rails eventually leading to accelerated rust.

If you already have rusted rear frame rails, well they took pitty on you. You already have enough stress in your life.

Whiney keyboard warriors are going to whiney keyboard warrior.

If you have rusty frame rails, you shouldn't be anywhere near a computer right now.

Apparently I can post up anything I like (non political)....?? as long as I don't have an opinion on it, yet await everyone else opinions to be posted up? Ok, so in the future, I will post up a topic, and respond to myself afterwards in a blog, TO myself!???...ill play along with this *nsanity, makes perfect sense to me :blam:
"So yeah, it disappeared when I had the chance. I'll challenge you to spot the differences." With no disrespect , that's not my intention here, nor the time or effort to not only post up (something that was informative to the G motoring public, and should be useful to anyone with an I.C.E. ) but then have to go back line by line to argue facts, (and yes I have an opinion, it was non political and last time I checked, it was allowed to have one here, unless I'm the only one who cant?), its absolutely counterproductive to the purpose this site was created, for enjoyment, educational and informative reasons, not alone all the awesome help the members provide.

I'm not trying to change any rule, but to abide by/in them, (reason i'm arguing the point) however get my blog deleted, yet this blog was CLEARLY stated it was political within the FIRST LINE ("Technically political. But, a bipartisan effort") yet is allowed????, not understood

****ing hell

Look, for educational purposes, I am restoring the thread that blk7gxn here thinks is perfectly OK because this thread is OK. Once again, I would challenge everyone to ask themselves why I deleted that thread and not this one. Its still locked, btw, bc I'm not letting that get any more traction than it needs to. FFS.

Once again, explain to me why I should not have deleted this thread.
