Cutting out the T-bar w/out extra rigidity added to the A pillar assembly is a serious issue because the A pillar will fold back if struck at all.
As for the rigidity of a FACTORY Ttop car they have extra bracing that a solid roof car does not. The factory Ttop cars have a structural bar built into the Bpillar and roof that adds a Structural hoop that the Tbar ties into to hold the A pillar forward. The other part is that on all modern cars (ours included) the windshields are glued it because they are designed as a structural part of the A pillar section which allows even loading of forces. As for twist in solid roof vs T roof models that is a lack of improvements by the owner/buider because in order to severly twist the frame you have to increase HP/Torque output to above vehicle engineers design. Like any modification every part has an effect on another and the car has to be built as a complete package not a collection of assorted changes. As to why turning a G-body into a targa top is less feasible as a simple size / weight issue. Think about lifting both sections of the Ttops out at once from one side of the car. Nearly an impossible task for most people.

That's really the whole problem w/ chop tops. Kids who aren't qualified to even drink legally are somehow qualified to put plates on anything in some states, then when they come up dead us older responsible people pay for it on our insurance and plates. Keep that to yourselves though - Obama's 13 knights of the round table solution would just be to call another vehicular holocaust (cash for clunkers II) he doesnt give a fk about your cars or the attendance level at events like Carlisle / SEMA so stfu already guys. This hobby doesnt need more red tape or beuaracrats in it. Live and let die.

I doubt some guy chipping his top is getting obamas attention.

Take off the tin hat bro

I wonder after a night of drinking do you ever wake up in the morning and look at your posts on here and see what threads got locked because of your off topic comments and how many multiple posts in a row only minutes apart you have made (there is an edit button) and then read them in disbelief wishing you could just delete them all?

I don't even drink at all the last few years. No one on here knows me in real life to verify this fact. I thought the point of a thread was to explain why we disagree w each other's theories and reach some type of middle ground, a conclusion. If something I said was wrong attack that, not me. Who am I anyway?

Well, my apologies for assuming that and it is nothing personal but as I have told you before that while I have seen you post comments that show knowledge on certain subject matter you still constantly make posts that are just too far off topic and then you start swearing and posting stuff that is way out there, next thing you know the thread has to be locked. I have seen this multiple times and I am wondering do you realize this. Remember that this site is for any age group that accesses it.

alright, lets bring it back on topic: cutting up cars without thinking about the consequences. (At least I think that was the point.)

Any more jumping on pencero (or anyone else) OR blaming this on Obama (really?) and "kids today™" will get it locked and/or warnings/bans tossed around.

I apologize it had went there. I'm only 27 which is a kid to you guys, but it's hard to have love for the younger generation when I put my hand out to them and they never seem to take it. I have told several younger guys about this site only to have them give lip service to checking it out but later capitulate on their regal/mc/cutlass 'project' which becomes scrap metal because it was a poorly planned fassad. Alas, I digress once again. I wont make multiple post in a row anymore w/ this new format I could see how that would be annoying than the old gen site. If a younger guy is reading this I'll end on this note: if you are standing in front of the car and you're not sure you should proceed with something, then just dont. Sometimes it would be better to have done nothing at all than to tackle a job with no experience/ knowledge.
